ReParty 50 Mon Sep 12 2005
Saturday was the night of the big bash arranged by Martine Rose and Bella Jay of Repartee to celebrate the magazines 50th issue. Many of the great and the good (as well as a few of the rather odd) of the tranniesphere gathered together to meet up and generally have a good time.

You can now see some snaps from the night here.

Coincidently, I've wanted to change my foundation for a while now, as I've been going to T&T** for IPL laser treatment for a couple of years and I no longer need the rather heavy slap which I originally used. So I spent the afternoon having a makeover at MAC's Soho store which was just fab. Nicky the makeup artist was a total sweetie, she was great fun, very talented and seemed to be enjoying herself as much as I was. And I have to say I was really pleased with the end result. We'd decided on a rather smouldering look for my eyes which I've never managed to create properly myself and a very natural look for the rest of my face. She was also very patient and explained a number of techniques which I've really struggled with.

It also turned out that a very handsome colleague of hers had been in the same club as me last Saturday. I had to laugh because he was genuinely surprised that I hadn't seen him there. Even after I pointed out that there had been hundreds of guys in the club and 7 trannies, so it was much more likely that he'd remember me rather than the other way around!

I did have a bit of a trauma getting back to the hotel on the tube as I ended up in a carriage full of football fans. I was lucky they didn't spot me as they really hassled a young woman who was sat near them ("show us your tits love"). But I thought my luck had run out when they got off at the same station as me and I had to push through them to leave the platform. It was a very scary moment as the one nearest me realised that I was wearing a wig but thankfully I don't think he realised that I was actually a guy. Phew!

I then had another bizarre experience when a guy on a motorbike suddenly took a shine to me and wouldn't leave me alone. Whistling and shouting at me to stop and talk. I eventually managed to lose him thanks to a maze of one way streets, but also managed to get rather lost in the process!

As you can imagine, I was very glad to reach the hotel and headed straight for the bar which was full with some of the other girls. I had to smile when someone commented that they where pleased to see another girl who was going to wear jeans to the party, as I am sooo not a jeans person as I look bloody terrible in jeans. In the end I had to confess that I had something slightly more glam to change into. ;)

The party was fun, it reminded me of Trans-Mission and the venue although smaller than I expected was fine. I tried to mingle and catch up with everyone, especially people like Siobhan, Becky and Jo who I very rarely see.

And I must just quickly say that I was blown away by how stunning Leah looked on Saturday. I think she really shone, even by her high standards.

I'd arranged to go onto my favourite fetish club afterwards with Alison and Steffi so I didn't stay until the end of ReParty. After a quick freshen up at the hotel we headed off to Club Rub which was a lot quieter than usual as Torture Garden was also going on. I was really touched as a lovely gay couple I first met at Christmas had cut short their holiday so that they could meet up with me at the club this month. It was great to see Jake and Ian again, as I hadn't been to the club since a rather disastrous night back in April. And thanks to them, I even managed to get my photo taken by the club photographer! :)

Finally, it was time for another trip to the hotel (to put my dancing shoes on) before the guys escorted Steffi and me onto Fire (god knows what happened to Alison!). I hadn't been to Fire before and I expected it to be similar to Beyond, that is, a large predominantly gay club. I was pleasantly surprised as the club isn't that big which gives it a more intimate feel, and the crowd seemed very mixed which is how I prefer it.

As is becoming the norm, Steffi and I where the only trannies there, although we did meet a couple of post op TS girls who I just happened to start chatting to. The girls assumed I'd read them and outed themselves to me. And I had to confess that I hadn't had a clue, as they both looked and sounded great. Ironically, we then had to try and keep a distance from them as I didn't want to out them to the rest of the club by association.

We also met a bunch of really lovely girls who I hope to see again (hi Aura!). It's all rather vague by this stage I'm afraid but I do recall being dragged into the ladies by one, and dancing on a table with a couple of the others. I'm amazed I didn't break my neck!

Finally at about 1pm, we where totally danced out and decided that it was probably time to call it a day and head back to the hotel. I must say the time was a total shock to both of us, as it seemed much earlier.

After last week's fiasco, I insisted on sharing a cab with Steffi to make sure she got home ok. And I'm afraid she must be cursed as our driver got totally lost and it took well over an hour to cover a 20 minute journey. Thankfully we'd already agreed the fare otherwise it would have cost us a fortune!

And so, another eventful weekend drew to a close. Thank god, Steffi's busy next weekend as I seriously need a rest!

**In fact, T&T are using my photo in their current advertising campaign. Fame at last! ;)

Dee Philippines
Hi! I saw your pic at flickr.com and thought i'd look at your site. fabulous site!

Before i scare the hell out of you, let me introduce myself. i am dee, a pre-op transsexual from the philippines. what triggered me to write to you is that you've mentioned you've had an IPL Laser session already (as i've read in your blog). i have had four sessions and one scar and i am feeling that the results are rather very very slow. my question is, have you ever noticed any 'big' changes on the effect of IPL after your fourth session?

My friends haven't had any experience in laser so i am at a loss for information. please do share your thoughts on the matter.

Thanks and stay fab! -dee

Hi Dee, you should bear in mind that IPL is a long term treatment. And the results will be dictated by how much hair there is to remove in the first place. I've had about 17 sessions on my face and I think I'll probably need another 12 but I have friends who are virtually hair free after 6.

Im concerned that you mention scarring. There shouldnt be any scarring at all, and I'm worried that your operator may not know what they are doing. In the UK, all IPL operators now need a specific qualification/license as the government is trying to get rid of the 'cowboys'. But unfortunatly many people don't realise this and go to unlicensed back street clinics because they are cheaper than the more established licensed ones. If you end up with scarring or don't actually achieve any results then I'd suggest you need to look for another clinic.

Looking back I did have some clear patches after 4 sessions, but as I mentioned this will depend very much on your own individual hair growth. Having said that, (dont tell anyone!) but I was naturally very hairy so if it works for me then it should be working for you too.

Its a slow and horribly painful experiance, but I think the results are worth it. I hope this helps, and good luck!

April Angell England - London
Hi Karol. Great to see you on Sat and a big thank you for saving Nina's butt by bringing her top - she was on the verge of being lynched by the other maids :-)

About MAC - what foundation did they/you use? (I am using MAC Full Coverage)

09:15 Tue
April, it was my pleasure. Glad I could help out, for once being the last one to get ready actually came in useful! :)

Yes, it was Full Coverage Foundation (NW25), hence why I was in the main MAC Pro store in Soho as its the only one in the UK that stocks it. And I have to say, it worked a treat.

Nicky only applied a very light coverage (compared to my usual 'slap it on with a trowel' approach) and then used a heavier Studio Finish Concealer (NW30) on the trouble spots around my mouth. And a zillion hours later when I finally got home, it still looked pretty good. And I'd only topped it up with some MAC Blotting Powder to take the shine off through out the night. The photo above was taken at 2 am after hours of dancing, and apart from being rather shiny as I've forgotten to blot the foundations fine.

With my previous foundation, I'd have needed a much thicker coverage if I wanted it to last such a long night. Which of course looks very obvious and not at all natural, hence why I wanted to change products.

And well done to you and the girls for keeping everyone fed at the party. Doesn't seem fair, as everyone else was partying while you where working!

See you soon hon. x
